The World Famous 4x4 Off Road Ford Bronco.
The new Tamiya 54869 Ford Bronco captures the essence of the prototype 1970′s Early Broncos which were produced during 1965-1977. Overall, three types of bodies were produced; the fully-open Roadster, the single cabin pick-up Utility, and the Wagon which had a tough resin roof.
The distinctive body design featured triangular protrusions on both sides of the curved front hood which were designed to work as a guide for drivers to accurately judge the body width while driving. Front suspension features coil springs combined with the rigid axle design, which was a first for any mass-produced 4X4 vehicle of its time performing well both on-road and off-road. The Ford Bronco is still a very popular 1:1 truck around the world, particularly in America, where many are used as cross-country and rock crawling vehicles.
About The Tamiya 58469 Ford Bronco RC Model
Tamiya has produced an accurate version of this classic All-American utility vehicle as a detailed but tough self assembly1/10th scale Radio Controlled model, built around their recently introduced, versatile CC-01 Cross Country chassis. A highly detailed polycarbonate replica of the Ford Bronco Wagon body shell sits on top of this chassis perfectly having a real sense of presence both on the display shelf an out in action.
The high performance ground-hugging, long-stroke suspension system comprises of front double wishbones and rear 4-link rigid setups and is equipped with 4 oil dampers. A proven and highly reliable, efficient full-time 4WD system features a front-mounted motor for excellent weight distribution and improved front end grip when crawling. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via the well designed & constructed front gearbox and to the rear wheels via the propeller shaft with universal joints. Front and rear differentials enable smooth cornering on all terrains. For improved off-road performance on rough terrains, the rear differential may be locked during assembly.

58489 Avante 2011
Way back in march 1988, Tamiya unleashed what was to become one of their most famous 4×4 of road buggies, in fact one of the most memorable radio controlled buggies of all time, the Avante. This now legendary machine was and still is highly sought after by RC enthusiasts and collectors worldwide, and in 2011, Tamiya brought the original model back to life in the form of the Avante 2011.
The original machine featured a highly sophisticated and advanced design which set new limits for Radio Controlled Car design back in the day, including a shaft driven 4 wheel drive system, an FRP double-deck chassis layout along with a longitudinally mounted motor and battery pack.
Now, more than 20 years after the original hit the shelves and captured the imagination of RC enthusiasts worldwide, Tamiya has given the Avante the re-release treatment, waving its magic wand yet again to produce this new model.
Tamiya have stayed true to the original model, whilst embracing a few new technologies and advancements along the way. The FRP chassis decks have been replaced by carbon fibre ones, and the front knuckles are made from much stronger and durable aluminium rather than plastic.
The drive train has two very compact gearboxes which are equipped with 3 small planetary gears, a centre differential until along with front and rear universal shafts to efficiently transmit all the power from the included 25T motor to the wheels.

2011 has seen a wide range of vintage Tamiya RC Cars re-released, such as the Fast Attack Vehicle, Sand Rover and a new variant of the Blackfoot series, the Blackfoot III. But one of the most notable releases this year is the Tamiya 58502 Blitzer Beetle 2011. Originally released back in the 1980′s, the Blitzer Beetle is a rather cool model inspired by the desert racers of the United States.
The very distinctive resin Volkswagen Beetle body shell has ensured the Blitzer Beetle has been a firm favourite with Tamiya collectors for many many years.

58071 Sonic Fighter
The Tamiya 58071 Sonic Fighter is one of a duo of rather quirky looking RC cars, the other half of that duo being the Tamiya 58061 Striker released just a short while earlier. A true beginners level car, originally released in earlier 1998. The Sonic Fighter features a more toned down colour scheme than many of their other cars with a simple grey, yellow and black theme working very well on this unusual car. The only noticeable difference between the Striker and the Sonic Fighter being the oil filled dampers which give a marked improvement in handling on what is essentially a very basic car indeed. Cosmetically, the only variation between the Fighter and the Striker is the addition of the simple Roll Cage protecting the driver.
Availability of parts, spares and complete models is good although mint condition specimens are getting rarer.

Without doubt, trucks are an essential component of worldwide logistics networks. This incredible piece of machinery the R620 6×4 sits proudly at the top of the 1/14 scale R/C Tractor Truck lineup from Tamiya. This huge RC Lorry features 3-axles and is approximately 458mm in length. Faithfully reproduced with a highly detailed cabin which tilts forward separately from the fenders, just like the real life truck. Tamiya have paid excellent attention to detail with this model with accurately modeled fenders which are removable for realistically depicting a low carrying load. 58063 Tamiya Lunch Box
Tamiya’s 58063 Vanessa’s Lunch Box is one of my all time favourite Radio Controlled Cars by Tamiya. A unique twist on the monster truck theme, the Lunchbox has become one of Tamiyas best selling RC cars of all time too. The iconic yellow dodge van body shell coupled with those huge, oversized tyres makes the Lunch Box extremely attractive to all RC enthusiasts both young and old.
Originally released mid 1987, the 58063 Tamiya Lunch Box was and still is a very easy to build radio controlled car and was the first “proper” RC Car I ever owned. Strong yet simple ABS black plastic chassis with rear mounted, sealed gearbox with gear differential and standard 540 motor. Bouncy coil sprung shocks all round with independent wishbone suspension at the front make for a fun chassis to drive both on and off road.
The iconic body shell design is a detailed 1/12th scale representation of a real life Dodge van, constructed in strong white ABS plastic with chromed plastic side exhaust pipes, front grille and rear bumper. The shell is tougher than most ABS shells from Tamiya and can stand a lot of knocks and bumps making it perfectly suitable for recreational use in parks, back yards and on off road tracks too.
One thing we mustn’t forget with the Lunch Box is its built in capability to pull spectacular wheelies, with the built in rear wheelie bar keeping everything under control at the rear.
Original models are now quite collectable and hold their price well on Ebay etc. Only real weak points of this model are the body mounts which are known to be fragile. Replacement Aluminium Lunch Box Body Mounts can be found on Ebay quite regularly.

58061 Striker
Tamiya 58061 Striker RC Car
Strongly regarded by Tamiya collectors all over the world as one of Tamiya’s least accomplished models, the Striker is both unusual in looks and mechanical design. Although aimed at the cheaper end of the market and more specifically for beginners, the Tamiya 58061 Striker is certainly one of tamiya’s weaker models construction wise, making it not quite as suitable for beginners are originally intended.
The Tamiya Striker’s body shell has a shape more reminiscent of an F1 car than an off road buggy, and it’s certainly an acquired taste, but that said, it did prove attractive to many a collector and newcomer to the hobby over the years.
The chassis is of the plastic tub style and is manufactured from white ABS plastic. It differs greatly though from most other Tamiya cars due to it’s integration with the body shell on top, almost making the body just a small chassis cover & cockpit. Drive train wise, the Striker is powered by a rear wheel drive gear box & motor assembly with gear differential and industry standard RS540 motor (silver can). Suspension is facilitated by Swing arms on the front and trailing arms on the rear with coil spring friction shocks. These are adequate, but in no way high performance.
White spoke wheels, rear spiked tyres and ribbed front tyres.

Created by Takuya Yura, the Tamiya Bigwig 58057 was created to commemorate Tamiya’s 10th Anniversary in the world of Radio Controlled Models. The distinctive body shell is designed to acts as one large wing to keep the buggy firmly glued to the road at high speeds. With its many unique features such as the white “moon dish” wheels, rack and pinion steering and additional body detailing parts the Bigwig is a much sort after but highly challenging RC Car to restore.
The drive train in the big wig is a full time 4wd shaft driven arrangement with motive power once again coming from the RX-540VZ Technigold motor. The suspension provision comes from 4 yellow coil over oil filled CVA shocks, a popular hop-up for many budget Tamiya models, but featured as standard with the Bigwig along with high traction Oval block/Spiked tyres.

58056 Falcon
Tamiya 58056 Falcon
A hugely popular model for Tamiya when it was first released back in 1986. The Tamiya 58056 Falcon replaced the Grasshopper and Hornet as the “first RC car” for many younger drivers, with its relatively simple construction yet cool, aggressive look. The Falcon proved to be a reliable runner in most cases but suffered from the rear dog-bones falling out and stripping. Overall though the Falcon was, and indeed still is a very capable Off-Road car. They are still quite plentiful and spares are relatively easy to obtain.
2wd with independent coil sprung shocks at the front and rigid trailing arm coil sprung suspension at the rear, the Tamiya 58056 Falcon offered similar performance to its predecessors, the Hornet & Grasshopper. The body shell is made of clear lexan which is painted from the inside to give a long lasting, high gloss finish.
Mint condition original models are currently seen to fetch prices in excess of £90 at auction.
