For some time now, RC enthusiasts have been modifying their off-road jeeps and truck into Rock Crawlers, and Tamiya took the plunge into this popular niche of the hobby with both feet! The Tamiya 58405 Toyota Land Cruiser 40 is the first crawler to be released by Tamiya on the now proven CR-01 chassis, featuring a true-to-scale body shell, accurately moulded in lightweight polycarbonate.

Tamiya’s CR-01 is a dedicated crawler chassis featuring heavy-duty ladder frame design with strong yet lightweight pressed aluminum channels and resin cross members for strength and durability. This new design for Tamiya has allowed some crucial space to be saved by employing a compact planetary gearbox which in turn enables the battery to be located lower down in the chassis for optimum center of gravity and stable performance on steep rocky inclines.

4-link open coil spring suspension provides the flexibility and the alternative Damper arrangement keeps vulnerable suspension components well out of harms way. The oil filled dampers are also connected via a stabilizer torsion bar to provide sure-footed balance for this model.
